The Agribusiness Undergraduate (S1) Study Program is part of the Department of Social Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Andalas University. The Agribusiness study program is designed to produce graduates with an undergraduate degree who are able to work as managers, researchers, consultants, planners and entrepreneurs in the field of agribusiness. Graduates of this study program can work in all subsystems making up the agribusiness system, starting from the upstream, middle (agricultural production business) subsystem, downstream to agribusiness supporting subsystems such as banks and government and private agencies supporting agricultural business. This study program prepares graduates who can work independently as entrepreneurs or work in the private sector or the public sector, and non-governmental organizations or non-governmental organizations.

Since 2008, this study program has been developed to be community-oriented. Community-oriented Agribusiness is an agribusiness concept that accommodates people's principles, namely efficiency so as not to waste agricultural resources, fair and just so that it is inclusive and elevates the standard of living of small farmers and laborers who work in all agribusiness subsystems, and does not damage the biophysical and social environment so that fair for generations to come, so that as a whole it is sustainable. The Community-oriented Agribusiness concept supports the realization of justice and fairness in the socio-economic life of all agribusiness stakeholders so that this concept is not only correct but also instrumental in supporting agribusiness sustainability. The concept of Community-oriented agribusiness is the answer to the challenges of doing agribusiness amidst the strengthening sentiments of the Indonesian people, and the world in general, regarding the need to prioritize human values, justice and the sustainability of the bio-physical environment in doing business.
