English Language Class Student of Agribusiness Study Program Class year of 2020 take part in the Overseas Student Exchange Program

PADANG - Andalas University in 2022 hold a Credit Earning or Foreign Student Exchange program in the form of credit transfers to Putra Malaysia University (UPM) for 1 semester. To take part in this program, the Agribusiness Study Program of the Department of Social Economy, Faculty of Agriculture sent Hafizul Ihsan and Nihlatul Maula who are English Language Class Students (KBI) of Agribusiness Study Program class year of 2020.

At UPM Hafiz and Maula joined more than 130 international students who came from all corners of the world such as Japan, China, Nepal, Pakistan, Korea, Germany, France, Kazakhstan, South Africa, the United States and from other countries.

In the first week of Hafiz and Maula at UPM, they were welcomed and met with all international students at NISWP or New International Student Welcoming Program. In NISWP they were also given instructions about campus life at UPM and life ethics in Malaysia. In addition, the NISWP program also invites international students to tour Malacca City to introduce culture and historical sites that UNESCO has recognized as a world heritage city (World Heritage Site).

Putra Malaysia University (UPM) is the 123rd best university in the world and the 2nd best university in Malaysia. UPM has complete facilities such as campus bus transportation that operates every Monday to Friday for mobility from one faculty to another, accommodation for local students and also International Students. In addition, lecturers who teach can provide material that is easy to understand so that students really enjoy participating in learning. In terms of security, UPM has university police patrols so that security can be maintained properly.

Indonesia and Malaysia are common countries, however, according to Hafiz and Maula, there are many differences that make them culture shock, such as food, facilities, learning systems, to the way of life in society. However, this was not a problem and it became an unforgettable experience from participating in this Credit Earning or Foreign Student Exchange program.

When asked about their participation in this program, Hafiz and Maula said, “This is a very good program where Unand students can experience studying at UPM even if it's only for 1 semester. We are very grateful to Andalas University, especially the Agribusiness Study Program, for entrusting us to take part in this Credit Earning or Foreign Student Exchange program. This will be a very valuable experience in our lives and we will participate in this program as much as possible so that we can return home with a feeling of pride”.(RM).
