Period before 1998

:

The Agricultural Social Economics Department has two study programs, the Rural Development Study Program and the Agricultural Economics Study Program.

Period 1998-2008

:

The Rural Development Study Program changed its name to the Agricultural Extension and Communication Study Program (PKP), and the Agricultural Economics Study Program became the Agricultural/Agribusiness Socio-Economic Study Program (Sosek/Agri).

Year 2000

:

The two Study Programs have received Accreditation from BAN-PT, the PKP Study Program received accreditation C, and the Social Sciences/Agri Study Program received B accreditation.

Year 2007

:

The two study programs submitted re-accreditation to BAN-PT and both received B accreditation, for a validity period of up to 2012.

Year 2008-2011

:

Based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education No.163/2007, the two study programs must merge into one study program, with the name Agribusiness Study Program.

Year 2012

:

The Agribusiness Study Program applied for re-accreditation to BAN-PT and received B accreditation, for a validity period of up to 2017.

Year 2017

:

The Agribusiness Study Program submitted a re-accreditation to BAN-PT and received an A accreditation, for a validity period of up to 2022.

Year 2022

The Agribusiness Study Program applied for re-accreditation to BAN-PT and again received A accreditation, for a validity period of up to 2027.

The Agribusiness Undergraduate (S1) Study Program is part of the Department of Social Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Andalas University. The Agribusiness study program is designed to produce graduates with an undergraduate degree who are able to work as managers, researchers, consultants, planners and entrepreneurs in the field of agribusiness. Graduates of this study program can work in all subsystems making up the agribusiness system, starting from the upstream, middle (agricultural production business) subsystem, downstream to agribusiness supporting subsystems such as banks and government and private agencies supporting agricultural business. This study program prepares graduates who can work independently as entrepreneurs or work in the private sector or the public sector, and non-governmental organizations or non-governmental organizations.

Since 2008, this study program has been developed to be community-oriented. Community-oriented Agribusiness is an agribusiness concept that accommodates people's principles, namely efficiency so as not to waste agricultural resources, fair and just so that it is inclusive and elevates the standard of living of small farmers and laborers who work in all agribusiness subsystems, and does not damage the biophysical and social environment so that fair for generations to come, so that as a whole it is sustainable. The Community-oriented Agribusiness concept supports the realization of justice and fairness in the socio-economic life of all agribusiness stakeholders so that this concept is not only correct but also instrumental in supporting agribusiness sustainability. The concept of Community-oriented agribusiness is the answer to the challenges of doing agribusiness amidst the strengthening sentiments of the Indonesian people, and the world in general, regarding the need to prioritize human values, justice and the sustainability of the bio-physical environment in doing business.

Undergraduate thesis is one of the requirements for completing the undergraduate program (S1) listed in the study program curriculum. For this reason, the Faculty of Agriculture created a Undergraduate Thesis Writing Guidebook which is a guideline for writing procedures, signs and limitations in undergraduate thesis writing within the Faculty of Agriculture, Andalas University. Undergraduate thesis writing guide is a guide for students of the Faculty of Agriculture, Andalas University and student supervisors in producing good, quality and according to established rules, both in print and digital formats. This book contains guidelines starting from the rules of writing, the format and systematics of writing a scientific work that has been adjusted to the refined spelling.

The Comprehensive Examination or undergraduate exam is the final stage that must be carried out by students of the Agribusiness Study Program, Department of Social Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, before officially obtaining a Bachelor of Agriculture (SP.) degree. The comprehensive exam is part of the Thesis course which weighs 4 credits and is mandatory in the Agribusiness Study Program, Department of Social Economics, Faculty of Agriculture. To register for this Comprehensive exam or undergraduate exam, the requirements that must be prepared by students are:

1.  Have an undergraduate exam permit from the Department of Social Economy (2 sheets)
2.  Photocopy of Documentation Card which recap of semester I to Final Semester scores (4 sheets)
3.  Fill in the bio/identity form
4.  Fill in monitoring blanks (7 sheets)
5.  Have proof of having attended seminars as seminar participants 25 times
6.  Have proof of having attended seminars as the main discussant 5 times
7.  Photocopy of proof of payment for the last 4 semesters UKT (3 sheets)
8.  Photocopy of TOEFL certificate with a minimum score of 375 (2 sheets)
9.   Have proof of free Social Service Center (SSC) ) (2 Sheets)
10.  Have proof of SAPS Certificate (2 Sheets)
11.  Have a research assignment letter
12.  Have a letter of completion of research
13.  Have a Faculty library free letter
14.  Black and white photo size 3 x 4 (6 sheets) and 4 x 6 (6 sheets)
15.  Photocopy of high school diploma or equivalent (3 sheets)
16.  Fill in the alumni biodata form
17.  Have a letter of Research Proposal Seminar official report
18.  Have a letter of Research Results Seminar official report
19.  Has made the 2nd submission with the Joseta Journal Template
   

All of the above requirements are put together in a green paper folder, write your name and NIM on the cover of the folder. The folder then submitted to the Administrative staff of Department of Social Economy. If it is stated that the student has fulfilled the comprehensive exam requirements, then the Comprehensive Examination will be scheduled by the Department of Social Economy.
